The Humane Society of Bay County’s Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers are gearing up for the 9th annual Barkin’ on the Bay. It will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at Bay Point Marina in Panama City Beach, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. (CST). A rain date of Sunday, October 13th, 2013 (from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.) has been set in the case of inclement weather.Tickets are a suggested donation of $5-$10 and kids get in free. Pets are TOTALLY welcome. :)

This will be a fun-filled day for dogs and the whole family with pet festivities including:

- The famous annual Dock Diving & Frisbee competitions
- Dog Demos (Flyball, Agility, Obedience & Rally Obedience)
- Meet the Breeds Program
- Pet Halloween Costume Contest
- Dog Contests/Competitions (Best Pet Trick, Amateur Obedience, & Simon Sez Obedience)

There will also be a HUGE Adopt-a-Thon involving multiple area rescue organizations, pet microchipping, pet grooming and nail-clipping, live bands, raffles, plenty of food & drinks, and tons more fun for the whole family.

October 04 – November 3, 2013

Each weekend beginning at 5 a.m. Friday morning through Sunday at 5 p.m. anglers can compete in the challenge which includes 4 species: King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder & Pompano.

A winner at each pier will be awarded in each fish category every weekend. A total of $1,200 in prizes will be awarded each weekend. A $250 prize will be awarded to the overall winner who catches
the heaviest fish between the two piers in each of the four categories during the 2013 Fishing Challenge. Winners of the Children’s Division who catch the largest fish each weekend will receive a $50 prize. Children’s Division is open to kids 12 years of age and under. Children must hook the fish and actively participate in reeling in the fish. Children’s winner will be the heaviest overall fish between all categories.

Weigh-ins will take place at each pier with the weekend winners announced on Sunday at 5 p.m. No tournament entry fee, but must pay pier fishing fee.

Columbus Day weekend will bring a wave of mischief and fun-filled adventures to Panama City Beach with the Pirates of the High Seas Fest. The FREE festival will include an ensemble of parades, sword-swinging showdowns, beach ball drop and fireworks displays. Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam, a three-day celebration of sun, fun and country music, will debut its
festival on the Gulf Coast shores of Panama City Beach, Florida from Thursday, September 26 to Saturday, September 28, 2013. The first artists to join the concert lineup at this year’s festival include 2013 Academy of Country Music Award nominees Toby Keith, Brantley Gilbert and the Eli Young Band. Also appearing onstage will be leading country artists Trace Adkins, Kip Moore, The Charlie Daniels Band, Pepsi’s X Factor Winner Tate Stevens, Darryl Worley, Blackberry Smoke and Pepsi’s Southern Original Winner.Comprised of six stages, Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam will provide the best of today’s country music for an audience of more than 15,000 people on the coast. During the day, three beachfront stages will be hosted by Edgewater Golf & Beach Resort, The Boardwalk Beach Resort and Seahaven Beach Resorts. Festival-goers will watch their favorite performers as they stand on the white “sugar sand” beach and dip their toes in the water. As the sun begins to set, patrons will ride free shuttles to the headline stage at Frank Brown Park. Saturday night only from 3:00PM until we all can’t see straight!  Live music from acts all across the Southeast including: Heritage, Kevin Jacobs, HOR!ZEN, Burning Tree, Nate Pennington, and Kayavibe!

Fireworks will go off at midnight, but the party will definitely not be over.  With this many bands, the show must go on!

Event armbands for non-guests will be available Sept. 14th.   They will be sold at The Chateau Motel’s front desk starting at $30, but why pay more for less?  For the best experience, get a room with some buddies for the night of the event, split the cost four ways, and it’s cheaper than just an armband! You also don’t have to worry about driving home!

Lobster Festival

September 19 – 22, 2013

 Schooners, The Last Local Beach Club, will host the 24th Annual Lobster Festival & Tournament again this year: the biggest 4-Day lobster festival in Florida. With huge Local Lobsters on the weigh-in scales, fresh lobster prepared every mouth-watering way you can imagine, and the 14th Annual Schooners Sand Sculpting Contest, it is a HUGE event that draws thousands of divers and lobster fans from all over the Southeast. Lobster Tournament divers will be competing in a variety of categories including Spiny Lobster, Shovelnose Lobster and Big 6. It will be held September 19, 20, 21, 22 & 23, 2013.

The final weigh-ins will begin Saturday and end Sunday when the grand prizes will be awarded and all the spectators enjoy a Lobster Feast! Fresh, fresh, FRESH local Lobster grilled, fried, sautéed, broiled, chilled, steamed, blackened, whole, halved, skewered…you get the idea.

Proceeds benefit the Florida Aquatic Marine Institute and the Toys For Kids Foundation.
